Today’s Quote – Dogs
The following quote is dedicated to John and his dearly departed pet dog Duke. Rest in Peace.
“A person can learn a lot from a dog, even a loopy one like ours. Marley taught me about living each day with unbridled exuberance and joy, about seizing the moment and following your heart. He taught me to appreciate the simple things – a walk in the woods, a fresh snowfall, a nap in a shaft of winter sunlight. And as he grew old and achy, he taught me about optimism in the face of adversity. Mostly, he taught me about friendship and selflessness and, above all else, unwavering loyalty.”
John Grogan [Marley and Me, 2005]
Thank you Black Rose. Dogs can teach us people a lot; it’s a shame we haven’t really learned how to listen to them yet. And as I read your quote and began writing this, in the place I am in right now, I was hearing Johnny Cash’s version of “Poor Wayfarin’ Stranger,” appropriately. I bet Johnny knew how to listen to dogs. Thanks again. My good ole puppy is off chasing bunnies in the sky now.
